The Department of Forest Botany, Dendrology, and Geobiocenology is a leading research unit in the Czech Republic, specializing in geobiocenology, forestry, conservation, and environmental protection. We seek an Assistant Professor with expertise in phytochemistry and phytotaxonomy to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant secondary metabolites, bioactivity, and plant responses to environmental stress factors. The role involves research, teaching, and academic mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct lectures and tutorials in botany and phytochemistry (Useful Plants of the Tropics and Subtropics, General Botany, Phytochemistry).
- Supervise student theses and guarantee related courses.
- Lead research and projects in phytochemistry.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
- Participate in conferences and seminars.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Ph.D. in forestry, tropical forestry, agroforestry, or related fields.
- Teaching experience in Czech and English.
- Experience in research project management and implementation in tropical/subtropical regions.
- Hands-on expertise in gas or liquid chromatography and chemical compound identification in plant secondary metabolites.
Preferred Qualifications
- French language proficiency.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Fieldwork experience, including expeditions to tropical countries.
- Valid driving license (Group B).
